I am so obsessed with weekends!!
Our last few weekends have been jam packed! So it was with open arms that I welcomed a relaxing one for this weekend just been. I don't know if it could have been any more wonderful than what it was!
Friday
I headed down to our local church just before lunch to meet the Reverend.
Friday
I headed down to our local church just before lunch to meet the Reverend.
I have been wanting to start at a Church here since I moved, but its quite daunting to set out to go alone! I really wanted to meet the reverends first so I would at least have a familiar face when I began. The day could not have outweighed my expectations more than what it did!
I was pretty afraid. I don't know why. So I kept chanting the quote by Eleanor Roosevelt over in my head, "do something everyday that scares you".

Meeting one of the reverends, I immediately felt at ease. It was like I had known her forever! She had such a way about her, that it was similar to being with a family member or long time family friend. She invited me out to lunch with her and her friend, and we ate at the loveliest little cafe across the street. After lunch, we drove out to the beach for a walk, before returning to the Church to set up for 'Kidz Art'.
I was so excited to help out with the after school art program! I am an art history major, and back home have nannied and babysat as much as I could! Kids just make me happy!
As I was wiping paint off the floors after 'Kidz Art', a big smile plastered across my face, the reverend turned and laughed saying, "I can't believe this time yesterday I didn't even know you, and today I already have you cleaning the floors!!"
It might not sound like much of a day, but to me, it really was. I all but skipped home, still smiling, feeling a genuine happiness and calmness I hadn't felt in a long time!
It was a drizzly, dull evening so I happily made a hot, tomato and mushroom soup from scratch for the Boy and I, to end the beautiful day.
Saturday
The Boy and I woke to a very dark, very wet morning. Back in New Zealand, we would have been disappointed, but here the cool temperature was such a novelty!!
It was the most perfect, most relaxed Saturday ever!!
Pyjamas, blankets, snuggles, books, movies, minestrone soup, garlic bread, and hot cocoa.

It really doesn't need any more explanation then that!
Sunday
I got up early to go to Church. It was probably the earliest I have been up on a Sunday in goodness knows how long! It felt good to be up and doing something, rather than sleeping the day away.
I was very grateful to the Boy for coming with me. He's not a believer, so it was a big deal!
There was an awesome band playing, and sharing stories from their mission trips to Africa and the Philippines; it was really moving!
After the service, we went across the road to the cute little cafe for brunch before heading home for some reading (me) and study time (him).
I skyped my sister, we toasted to Prince William and Kate on their first anniversary, and for dinner I whipped up the meanest feed of tomato tuna pasta ever! I ate so much, I nearly spewed on the Boys back!!
...I wish I were joking...

To top off the evening, I received a phone call asking me to come in for a job interview this morning!
Wish me luck!! I am really hoping I get this!!
What did you do this weekend? Do you like to fill your weekends up, or keep them empty so you can relax?
